Now when it comes to online marketing there are thousands of options available, it seems that every single site out there is offering some form of affiliate program. There is becoming too much choice out there. Clickbank is one of the best affiliate marketplaces out there filled with products that you can promote as an affiliate for commission, the advantage of this system is that it specialises in e-products so there is never a question of postage. When someone buys a product your promoting you earn commission and they get the product instantly.

So how do you choose the right affiliate program for yourself? There are some simple things that you should do before you choose a program to promote. Firstly you should look at the commission being offered to see whether the product is worth promoting with how much you will get per sale. Secondly but probably more importantly you need to see whether there is any potential with the product, is it a product with a good salesletter that almost sells itself for a good price or is a product that is overpriced and with a poor quality salesletter. Any factor to consider is how much you personally could make with the product, if your just starting out marketing with little experience there would be no point in promoting a product for $997 because even though the commission would be good, the likelihood of you making a sale is slim and therefore renders the promotion pointless. Whereas a product that sells for $9.97, the commission will be a lot less though you are more likely to get sales.

Another thing to consider is promoting a free product or membership site that has a one time offer that you can earn commission from. Free membership sites are usually the easiest things to promote, and combined with a good one time offer that really converts to sales it can be very profitable. Also a lot of these free membership sites offer paid monthly membership with more features and if you get signups into those programs then it means recurring monthly commission without any further work.

This brings me onto the big question, do you sell products with recurring commission or with only single sale income? This is really up to you, gaining recurring commission I have found to be harder if you want to make a lot of money. I have used many systems where I have made recurring commission but people tend to drop out of these systems and the amount made per person is normally low. Whereas the sales of non recurring products can be a lot more profitable but require promoting constantly to make any real income.
